Student View: My Mastery Check

Mastery Measurements are quick, skill-specific tests in either reading or mathematics. These are assigned by a teacher or other staff member.

Video Tutorial

Completing a Mastery Check

After a probe has been assigned to a student, they complete a new probe each week and can monitor their performance by clicking on either Math or Reading on their landing page.

On the content screen, students look for the My Mastery Check card

  • Students who have an active Mastery Measurement Probe see the Star on this card at the beginning of each week.
  • The star remains here until the student completes the probe for the week.
  • To start the probe, the student will click "View."

Remember: Look for the star - it helps guide you!

  • Click the probe to be completed
  • In the example below, the student would click "Level 4 Multiplication and Division."

This screen opens

  • A student clicks the play button to complete this week's quiz

Reviewing Performance

Each score is automatically graphed as soon as the student completes it.

Reading the Graph: One Objective

  • Scores are reported as percentages
  • Each week is listed along the horizontal axis of the graph
  • A dashed line shows the goal the teacher set when they created this probe

Look at the sample below and notice:

  • The teacher set the goal at 80%
  • This student has completed two quizzes
    • Week 3, where they earned a 50%
    • Week 5, where they earned a 70%

Reading the Graph: Multiple Objectives

  • The teacher or staff member decides when the student has demonstrated proficiency with each objective and starts a new probe
  • The teacher selects different colors to indicate each objective
  • The teacher sets the proficiency or mastery target
  • A star shows the student when they've scored at or above the mastery target

Look at the sample below and notice:

  • The teacher has measured performance on three different objectives (Each is shown in a different color)
  • 80% is the target score for all three objectives (noted by the dashed lines)
  • This student has met the target score:
    • 3 times on the first objective (orange)
    • 3 times on the second objective (blue)
    • 2 times on the third objective (purple)

Performance Summary

Below the graph are cards that show:

  • The names the teacher gave each objective
  • The color used on the graph
  • A square for each week's performance
    • Grey = student didn't complete a probe that week
    • Blue or Light Purple = student completed the probe, but didn't score at or above the target score
    • Dark Blue or Purple with a check mark = student completed the probe and scored at or above the target score
  • When your mouse hovers over a square, the date the probe was completed and the amount of time the student spent completing it appear
