How much time should my students be using Classworks each day?
We recommend setting aside 45 minutes each day for students to work in Classworks. This time allows for:
- Screening
- Intervention work
- Progress Monitoring
- Mastery Measurement
- Goal tracking
Students' actual time on task will most likely be closer to about 30 minutes, but setting aside 45 minutes provides a buffer for students to get logged in and set up, switching between activities, etc., to ensure they have that time to get a full session in.
Students who consistently spend 30+ minutes weekly working on each Learning Path (Reading and Math) achieve the expected achievement growth!
Example Weekly Schedule
| Day of the Week | Reading/Language Arts | Mathematics |
| Monday | 15 Min: Progress Monitoring Probe | 20 Min: Individualized Learning Path |
| Tuesday | 20 Min: Individualized Learning Path | 15 Min: Progress Monitoring Probe |
| Wednesday | 10 Min: Monthly Scores Review | 20 Min: Individualized Learning Path |
| Thursday | 20 Min: Individualized Learning Path | 10 Min: Mastery Measurement Probe |
| Friday |
10 Min: Mastery Measurement Probe 10 Min: My Smart Tracker Conversation |
10 Min: Monthly Scores Review |
The above example shows a student supported in Tier 1 or Core. Students receiving Tier 2 or Tier 3 supports would benefit from additional time. We recommend 60-90 minutes per subject per week in their ELA and Math ILPs.
