How do I use the Progress Monitoring filters to monitor my students?

Staff have information about their students’ progress at their fingertips on the Progress Monitoring screen. Using one or more of the filters along the left side of the screen at a time, staff can view the Progress Monitoring status for specific groups of students.

Step-by-Step Guidance

Filter Menu

Navigate to the Progress Monitoring Screen and notice the filter menu along the left side of the screen.

Teacher users only see students who are members of one or more of their classes.

Even when the class filter is set to ALL.

Grade: This is the enrolled grade level, not the intervention level. Grades range from Pre-K to 12.

Class: You can filter by the class a student is enrolled. Teachers use this filter to look at their classes individually.

Custom Group: If custom groups have been created, staff use this filter to monitor their progress.

Last Name: Use the last name filter to find an individual student by name.

First Name: Use the first name filter to find an individual student by name.

Subject: Choose Language Arts or Mathematics.

Universal Screener: View suggested tier levels based on the Classworks Universal Screener or your district Assessment (such as Renaissance Growth or NWEA)

PM Status: Narrow your search to monitor students who have active or inactive Progress Monitoring Sessions.

Suggested Tier: Narrow your search by suggested tier levels. Select from All, Urgent Intervention, Intervention, On Watch, or At/Above Grade Level.

PM Type: Narrow your search by the specific type of progress monitoring. Choose Curriculum Sampling or Domain-based.

PM Level: Levels range from K-8. This is the level of the Progress Monitoring session that has been assigned to the student. Please note, Domain-Based CBM probes include levels 1-8.

Current Rate of Improvement: Narrow your search by students' performance on their target goal, choose Below (Target), TBD (To Be Determined), or On (Target).

Complete this week:

Select 'Yes' if you would like to view all students who have completed their CBM Probe for the current week.

Select 'No' if you'd like to see students who have not completed the week's CBM.

After setting the filters, the screen will update and provide a summary for either Language Arts or Mathematics. The subject is shown in the top left corner. The example below shows a Mathematics Summary

Students are listed alphabetically, and information is visible for each student, including the type and level of progress monitoring, which week the student is currently on, their rate of improvement, and whether or not they've completed this week's probe.

Subject Summary Screen Rate of Improvement (ROI)

Summary information can be viewed by Rate of Improvement as well as by Suggested Tier

  • This view is used to monitor how students are progressing with their goals and is available by toggling to it in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Classworks recommends using this view to efficiently support students who are consistently completing their probes and making progress, and intervene with students who would benefit from additional support and reminders.
