What is the difference between Instructional and Manual Mode?

Instruction you assign to students can be organized two different ways; Instructional Mode and Manual Mode.

  1. Instructional Mode means that students start at the Mini-Lesson and complete the activities in order ending with the Quick Quiz
  1. Manual Mode means that students can complete the tasks in any order they wish. Even completing the Quick Quiz first.

Instructional Mode vs. Manual Mode

  1. Instructional Mode is the default setting and is recommended for most assignments.
  1. Manual Mode is the default setting for Integrated Reading and Applied Math materials - this allows teachers to direct students to specific passages or problem sets.

Modifying the Mode

  1. From the Classes Tab, click on the class that contains the assignment. Locate the specific assignment on the Instruction Sub Tab
  1. Under the Mode Column, click the "I" button to change it to "M" or vice versa.

  1. To change the mode for specific students, expand the assignment by clicking on the + symbol beside the assignment name.

Once you've made your changes, click Save at the bottom!
