Classworks Applied Mathematics problem-solving activities are intellectual challenges that enhance mathematical development. These activities are a powerful vehicle for developing conceptual understanding, reasoning skills, and mathematical communication during whole class or small group standards-based instruction.

In this article we will go over:

Assigning Applied Math to a class or individual student(s)

Whether you are assigning one unit or several units of Applied Math to a class or students, you will follow the steps below.

1. Navigate to the Classes tab and click on your class name.

2. At the bottom, click "Assign Instruction."

3. Across the top of the Assign Instruction pop-up, select Classroom Instruction.

4. Place a check next to any level(s) that you would like to assign to your class and click Next.

Note: Even though you are selecting all of the Applied Math units for a certain grade level, right now you will be able to customize after. See the section for Customizing Applied Math below.

5. Choose to assign to All Students in the class you chose or Selected Students by placing a check in the box next to your student names and click Assign.

Assign Applied Math to multiple classes at once

1. Navigate to the Classes tab, check the box to the left of the classes you want to assign Applied Mathematics to, and click Assign.

2. Select Instruction.

3. Across the top of the Assign Instruction pop-up, select Classroom Instruction.

4. Place a check next to any level(s) that you would like to assign to your class and click Next.

Note: Even though you are selecting all of the Applied Math units for a certain grade level, right now you will be able to customize after. See the section for Customizing Applied Math below.

5. Choose to assign to All Students in the classes that you chose or Selected Students across multiple classes by placing a check in the box next to the student names and click Assign!

Customizing Applied Math

Once you have assigned Applied Math units to a class(es) or students, they have access to all of the activities in each level you assigned. If you would like to customize which ones they have available to them you can turn activities off or on as needed.

1. Navigate to the Classes tab and click your Class name.

2. To the right of the Applied Mathematics assignment you'd like to edit, click the blue Customize link.

3. From here remove/place checks next to the individual units until you have the activities you would like to have active for your students.

4. When you're done, click Save!

Note: You can go back in at any time to change the status of any activity to make them active or inactive.
